Enable Push Notifications in iMonnit
This article will guide you through the steps to enable push notifications in the iMonnit Online app, once the feature is enabled users can receive their notifications on their phone through the app.
Enable Push Notifications
- Download and open the iMonnit app.
- Refer to How to Install the iMonnit Mobile App - Monnit Knowledge Base for installation instructions. To enable push notifications on your device, the web app must be installed first. The toggle to allow push notifications will only appear on the mobile device during the initial setup.
- Log in to your iMonnit account.
- Click on the "Users" link in the left menu.
- Select your user.
- Choose the "Notification" tab.
Here you’ll find a “Push Notification” section.
- First, toggle "Allow Push Messages" - Make sure to accept the permission verification on your phone. This is a simple toggle that will enable push notifications. Your device should then prompt you to allow notifications. Be advised that you may need to review additional security settings on your device to permit notifications.
2. Edit Rule to Add Push Notification
- Select "Rules" from the main menu.
- Choose an existing rule.
- Navigate to the "Tasks" tab
- Select “Edit Alert"
On this page, you can select "Push" (alongside other alert options) for user accounts that have configured push notifications.
- Select the bell icon under the Push column and confirm it turns green.
Once the User is configured to have Push Notificationsenabled, and they are configured to be a recipient of the Push Notification onthe Rule, they will receive push notifications to the device.
In addition to testing the Rule, you can also test the Push Notifications under the User > Notification Details tab:
- To remove the Push Notification association, you can select the Orange Trashcan icon.
Please note: This is an early betaprogram. While our internal testing shows promising results, various factorswith phones and carriers may affect reliability. We recommend that you do notsend “important” notifications solely through push notifications. Always sendan email or SMS in addition to push notifications for critical alerts.
