ALTA Humidity Sensor Configuration & Installation Guide
Overview
The ALTA® Wi-Fi Wireless Humidity Sensor accurately monitors the air’s relative humidity (RH) within a room or enclosure. The sensor uses a high-accuracy silicon-based digital humidity/temperature element to produce % RH and temperature data. Additionally, the data is used in iMonnit to calculate dew point, moisture weight, heat index, and wet bulb temperature.
Settings to Configure
- Below—Humidity measured below this value will cause the sensor to enter the Aware State.
- Above—Humidity measured above this value will cause the sensor to enter the Aware State.
- Aware State Buffer %—Prevents the sensor from bouncing between Standard Operation and Aware State when the readings are very close to a threshold.
- Below—Temperatures measured below this value will cause the sensor to enter the Aware State.
- Above—Temperatures measured above this value will cause the sensor to enter the Aware State.
- Aware State Buffer—Prevents the sensor from bouncing between Standard Operation and Aware State when the readings are very close to a threshold.
For example, If you seta Maximum Threshold (Above) to 90° and a Hysteresis of 1°, then once the sensor takes an assessment of 90.0° and enters the Aware State it will remain in the Aware State until the temperature readings drop to 89.0°. Similarly, at the Minimum Threshold (Below), the temperature will have to rise a degree above the threshold to return to Standard Operation.
- Show Moisture Point—Displays the Altitude field for adjustable moisture weight.
- Show Dew Point—Displays the dew point of the displayed data.
- Show Heat Index—Displays the human-perceived equivalent temperature based on the temperature and relative humidity (RH).
- Show Wet Bulb—Displays the temperature as if the thermometer is covered in a wet cloth.
Calibrate—Provide Relevant Data
Step 1. Place the sensor in a stable temperature and humidity environment and wait for sensor readings to stabilize.
Step 2. Enter the difference between the observed and actual humidity and/or temperature in the appropriate Offset text box and press Calibrate.
Sensor Scale Settings
To adjust the sensor scale settings, click the scale icon at the far right of the top menu. With the ALTA Humidity Sensor, you can also measure:
- Show Temperature Values in:
- Fahrenheit
- Celsius
Installation Steps
If this is your first time setting up your Monnit system, you must set up your iMonnit account and connect your ALTA Gateway to iMonnit before registering your sensor. See this article for steps to start: Creating an iMonnit account and refer to the ALTA Sensor General Information Guide.
Step 1.
Remove the sensor from the package. If installing an industrial sensor, attach the antenna.
Step 2.
Register the sensor in iMonnit. Do not install the batteries until told to do so in iMonnit. Refer to this walk-through guide and configure the sensor’s Settings and Scale information in iMonnit for your specific application or use case.
Step 3.
Determine the sensor’s installation location. We recommend placing the sensor in the location and ensuring it reports to the gateway before final installation. See this article if you’re using an ALTA Site Survey Tool to perform a site survey to determine sensor installation location.
Step 4.
After ensuring that the sensor is communicating with the gateway, mount the sensor using the supplied screws or double-sided tape. Mount the sensor in a location that will not block or impede airflow to the hole on the bottom of the sensor’s housing or the lead placement.
