Sensor Overview
The ALTA Wireless Resistance Sensor reads the resistance across any resistive load and reports the measured resistance.
- Measures up to 250k Ohms.
- Accurate to ± 2% (FS) with user calibration
The ALTA Resistance Sensor is passive. As such, you should measure passive-resistive loads only. Connect the two leads of the sensor to either side of a purely resistive load to determine the resistance. The sensor has two regions of operation:
- Low Region: Meant for loads of 5k Ohms and below.
- High Region: Meant for loads above 5k Ohms and below 250k Ohms.
Installation Steps
If this is your first time setting up your Monnit system, you must first set up your iMonnit account and connect your ALTA Gateway to iMonnit before registering your sensor. See this article for steps outlining how to get started: Creating an iMonnit account.
Step 1.
Remove the sensor from the package. If installing an industrial sensor, attach the antenna.
Step 2.
Register the sensor in iMonnit. Do not install the batteries until told to do so in iMonnit.
Step 3.
Determine the sensor’s installation location. We recommend placing the sensor in the location and making sure it reports to the gateway before final installation. See this article if you’re using an ALTA Site Survey Tool to perform a site survey to determine sensor installation location.
Step 4.
After ensuring that the sensor is communicating with the gateway, mount the sensor using the supplied screws or double-sided tape. Ensure the sensor is mounted close enough to the load you wish to measure for the 3-ft. leads to reach.
Step 5.
Attach the leads.
The resistance sensor leads are meant to connect to passive devices only. Connecting the sensor leads to any voltage or power source may damage the sensor.
WARNING: Applying a voltage to this sensor will cause damage to it.
