Next Open-Closed Sensor Configuration & Installation Guide

Overview

The Next® Wi-Fi Open-Closed Sensor detects when a door or window opens or closes using a magnetic switch. When the sensor detects that the magnet has been removed or returned, it sends the information to iMonnit. You can configure the sensor to alert when the magnet is present, removed, or when the state changes.

Settings to Configure

The instructions to configure standard Next Sensor and Wi-Fi network settings are available in the Next Sensor Quick Start Guide. The settings below are specific to the Next Open-Closed Sensor:

  • Enter Aware State when magnet is—Allows the sensor to detect when the magnet is Removed, Introduced, or in a State Change.
  • Time to Re-Arm (seconds)—The time after a triggering event that the sensor will wait before recognizing additional triggering events.

Installation Steps

Step 1:

Follow the installation and setup steps provided in the Next Wi-Fi Sensor General Information Guide. Ensure the lead is long enough to mount the sensor near the door, window, or container.

Step 2:

Configure the sensor’s settings in iMonnit for your specific application or use case.

Step 3:

Install the lead wire with the magnet end in a location that will leave enough room for the lead wire to be no more than ¾” (19 mm) away from the other magnet.

Step 4:

Mount the other magnet opposite the lead wire end, ensuring that both magnet ends are facing each other and are not mounted more than ¾” (19 mm) apart.

Open-Closed Sensor Installation

While the graphic below depicts installation on a door frame, follow the same process if mounting on a window or similar structure.
