Next Water Detect Sensor Configuration & Installation Guide
Next Water Detect Sensor Configuration & Installation Guide
Overview
The Next Wi-Fi Water Detect Sensor monitors the presence or absence of water in areas prone to pooling or flooding from weather or plumbing leaks. The sensor detects water by completing a circuit between the two contacts at the end of the lead.
When the detection state of the sensor changes, it sends data over your Wi-Fi network to iMonnit. You can configure the sensor to alert when water is present, absent, or when the state changes.
Settings to Configure
The instructions to configure standard Next Sensor and Wi-Fi network settings are available in the Next Sensor Quick Start Guide. The settings below are specific to the Next Water Detect Sensor:
- Enter Aware State when water is—Allows the sensor to detect when water is Present, Absent, or in a State Change.
- Time to Re-Arm (seconds)—The time after a triggering event that the sensor will wait before recognizing additional triggering events.
Installation Steps
Step 1:
Follow the installation and setup steps in the Next Wi-Fi Sensor General Information Guide. When mounting the sensor, ensure there is enough room to place the lead contacts at the desired height.
Step 2:
Configure the sensor's settings in iMonnit for your specific application or use case.
Step 3:
Mount the detection wires using tape, glue, or another method at the desired height for water detection.
- For example, if no water is supposed to be present, mount the lead so the wires are touching the ground.
- If a 1/4" of standing water is acceptable, mount the lead so the wires are no higher than 1/4".
- Similarly, mount the lead at the desired detection height if using the sensor to detect the non-presence of water.
