Sensor Status Colors

Sensors display vertical bars on the left-hand side of the iMonnit portal in four colors: GreenYellowGray, and Red.

A sensor is green if it has not missed multiple communications and no Rule is triggering. The gateway may remain green if one communication is missed. The timestamp 6 minutes ago confirms the sensor's last communication six minutes ago.

A sensor may be yellow if:

  • The battery level is low (<10), as shown above.
  • No probe detected (applicable to certain sensors).
  • There is a hardware error.

A sensor is gray if:

  • The sensor has missed 2 Heartbeats + 2 hours.

The timestamp 11/13/2023 10:17 AM is the last time the gateway communicated. The battery icon on the right is the battery level from the timestamp, not the present time.

  • The sensor is newly added to the Network.
  • The last communication date is Null.

A sensor is red if the most recent reading triggered at least one Rule regardless if the sensor is online/offline or of the battery status, even when that Rule is scheduled inactive.

If the sensor is offline and triggering an Inactivity Rule and no other Rules, the color will not be red. In other words, Inactivity Rules do not turn the sensor's status red; rather, the status color (gray if inactive) is only determined by the default internal offline estimate based on the gateway Heartbeat, sensor Heartbeat, and time it has been offline.

In the REST API

The Status of the sensor is also reported in the REST API:

OK (Green) = 0

Warning (Yellow) = 1
Alert (Red) = 2
Inactive (Grey) = 3
Sleeping (Grey) = 4/5
