Force High Power and Force Low Power on Cellular Gateways

Monnit Cellular Gateways offer a Power Mode feature which determines how the gateway maintains its connection to the cellular network. In order to efficiently use battery power (if so equipped) and data usage, there are different Power Mode configurations on Monnit cellular gateways.

Configuring Power Mode on a Monnit Cellular Gateway

To change the Power Mode of a cellular gateway:

  • Log into the iMonnit Online Portal.

Power Modes

There are three different Power Mode configurations: Standard, Force Low Power, and Force High Power. Each mode has distinct operations for the LEDs and the cellular session. The LEDs and cellular connection behave differently when the gateway is powered by battery versus line power.

Force High Power

On line power and on battery power: The gateway LEDs remain illuminated.

The cellular session is maintained even after transmission of data is completed.

Force Low Power

On line power and on battery power: The gateway LEDs remain off.

The cellular session is opened before each transmission to the cellular network, and the cellular session is closed after each transmission is completed.

Standard

On line power: The gateway LEDs remain illuminated.

The cellular session is maintained even after transmission of data is completed.

On battery power: The gateway LEDs remain off.

The cellular session is opened before each transmission to the cellular network, and the cellular session is closed after each transmission is completed.
